I decided to write and article on safety glasses because there is a dramatic amount of work place injuries that happen in the US everyday.and they estimate that over 1000 of those injuries are eye related injuries. The reality is that most injuries are easily preventable. Considering the great costs of workplace injuries, an estimated $300 million dollars that is lost due to lost labor, medical expenses, and workers compensation. The simple fact is that this is mainly contributed to the lack of training and simple human stupidity. They were not wearing their safety glasses at the time of the injury, or they were wearing the wrong type of eye protection for the job, meaning they had no side shields or full cup.We know the rules of the job so ask yourself how can these eye injuries be prevented? Always wear effective eye protection either safety glasses, goggles or a face shield. OSHA standards require that employers provide workers with suitable eye protection.
